What is "Ethically Sourced"?
Ethically sourced is a commonly used term to describe how one sources their items, but definition of ethics can vary person to person.
Here at Forbidden Fruit, "ethically sourced" means the specimen(s) from which we are using the bones or parts were not intentionally killed by a human for the purpose of art, sport, cruelty, or profit. We prioritize practices that support ecological balance as an effort to minimize our environmental footprint.
Insects
Majority of our insects are forged locally by myself, family and friends or have been purchase from vendors that source from butterfly farms, insect ranches or independent breeders.
Sustainable farming of insects helps to protect land, and rain forests from being deforested and replaced with unsound crops. Our collaborations support efforts to maintain harmony within ecosystems.
Animal Bones
Majority of our bones are forged locally by myself, family and friends who own property or are a product of farmer casualties.
Actively partnering with farmers dedicated to protecting their livestock from invasive species, allows us to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices. All bones are cleaned, degreased and occasionally whitened by yours truly!
Crystals
Our primary supplier is a family owned and operated manufacturer here in Dallas, TX.
It is my mission to provide unparalleled quality of crystals or crystal jewelry that you can feel good about. That is why each crystal is carefully sourced with the highest ethical standards possible.
Botanicals
People, plants, and planet before profit is the heart center of our ethics: sourcing botanicals from certified organic suppliers who practice sustainability is our mission here at F.F.
Practices
Here at Forbidden Fruit we pride ourselves in decolonizing our business and personal practices. We do not sell anything from closed practices or appropriate other cultures.
